Interviews From Mexico: América del Valle
The construction of a new international airport on what it used to be Texcoco Lake of the Aztecs in Mexico City became a flashpoint in the presidential campaign, and also in the early days of new presidency. The project touched nerves; it's a multimillions-dolars project where there have been accusations of corruption, it has caused a discussion on environmental impact and the social impact. It turns out that the construction of the airport is the same place where there was a proposal of building an airport over a decade ago in the village of Tlatilco. The people of Tlatilco mounted a resistance that blocked that early project and the they were faced with a new project. Our guest, America Del Valle, member of Peoples Front in Defense of the Land.
